Llanharan RFC are saddened to hear of the passing of former centre Noel Jones. Noel played for the club in the 60's and early 70's and was a very powerful centre. I personally was lucky enough to play in some games with him and can honestly say he never took a backward step. After his playing days he carried on watching Llanharan along with his great mate Leighton "Webb" Waters. In recent times he loved to watch his grandsons playing for the club, Chris with the First Team, William played for the 2nds and captained the Youth and Scott who plays walking rugby for Pontyclun RFC. He took great pride in their achievements on the field. Noel was an unassuming man, who always had time for a chat and will be greatly missed on the touchline at Llanharan RFC. Our deepest condolences go out to Allyson and the family at this very difficult time. Here's an old Dolau School photo from Hugh Smith, with Noel in the back row, fifth from the left.
