In Llanharan's first appearance in the WRU Bowl Competition, they made hard work of a resilient Penarth side. In brilliant sunshine Llanharan progressed to the next round despite an error ridden performance and poor discipline. The flow of the game was not helped by the constant whistle of the referee. However the second half became an exciting spectacle for the neutral supporter. Penarth took an early 3-0 lead but it was the away side who went into half time with a 13-15 lead thanks to tries by Sam Llewellyn, Roy Furnival and Lloyd Thomas. The second half was a topsy turvy affair with the lead changing hands on several occasions. With the score at 21-25 and time up on the clock, Penarth had a scrum 5 metres from the Llanharan try line. With a Herculean effort the Llanharan pack drove Penarth off the ball and went the length of the field for " man of the match" Jack Pring to score, taking the score to 34-23 in Llanharan's favour.
