Leighton Waters (Webb)

Writer: KipKip

It is with great regret that we have to announce the passing of Club stalwart Leighton Waters, commonly known as "Webb". I speak from personal experience when i say he was a joy to be with after a game, usually singing "Marta Rambling Rose of the Wildwoods", or coming out with his one liners such as "Get out of the corn fields Blodwen, your working against the grain". He also loved singing Beatles songs and knew the words to lots of their songs. He played literally any where in the back division for Llanharan, mostly for the 2nds but he always enjoyed playing and the after match fun. After an injury cut short his playing career he became the Club's "Flag&Bag" and was very proud of the fact that along with late Dick Decaux and Lyn Woolls he helped to move the role on by attending Training Courses, which contributed to a much safer game. In later years he could be seen at the ground with his mate the late Noel Jones, cheering the boys on. Sadly his wife Lynda also passed recently. The Waters are a large family and all at Llanharan RFC send our condolences to every one of them. Webb will be missed by everyone who knew him at the Club.

In the first photo Webb can be seen to left of his great mate, the late Noel Jones. In the Team photo he is third from the left in the back row.
