Llanharan Youth 38 Llanishen Youth 27

Fantastic start to our league campaign with another season’s victory against a very good Cardiff team in Llanishen with the weather this time being around 30 degrees! The visiting team took a very early lead kicking a penalty for holding on then moments later scoring a try from an over throw on their lineout. The young Dairymen didn’t panic and were planning their next attack rather than who was at fault for the try! Immediately from the kick off after some quick rucking, full back Ben Wyn Williams ghosted outside his opposite man to open the scoring for Llan, which was able converted by Andy Goode lookalike Evan Halse. Llan kept the pressure on and skipper Harry Roberts took a quick tap penalty and ran the entire length on 1 metre to score, again converted by Evan Halse. Similar overthrow on our ball resulted in a not straight and the opposition took the scrum and scored from a fly hack. Not to be outdone, Llan kept running at the opposition and won another penalty close to the opposition line and clearly Harry Roberts has been watching videos of Martin Williams and took another tap and go and went over for his second try of the game. Discipline let the boys down for the next 5 -10 minutes and after a string of penalties, the away team scored through their forwards, which was converted. The new tackle law had a major impact on the game and it was the home teams turn to be awarded a number of penalties and worked their way up the field and with a lineout close to their line, Harry Roberts completed his hattrick with another long run over 1 meter to score with a pick and go! The second half started well with great lineout ball from hooker, come flanker, come second row Elis Browers and a kick through from Ben Wilding with Connor Jones scoring, which he also converted. Elis won a mirror image lineout with a lovely tap to Tom Owen who gave a bullet of a pass to Ben Wilding who found Joseph Danter on a fantastic angle to go under the posts, converted by Connor again. Llan boys defended heroically for the rest of the second half and apart from a questionable penalty try for a high tackle on a pick and go, the boys stuck at it and ended up victorious at 38-27.
