I received a message from our Fixture Sec. Phil Hearne, telling me that we were in the final of the Malcolm Thomas Cup. My first reaction was what is the Malcolm Thomas Cup and how did we get there? Apparently it's the old East District Cup, which we won several times in 70's and 80's. The competition is based on the Silver Ball format of selecting 8 of our games and going through on wins and try count. Phil tells me he had no correspondence regarding the Competition until we were drawn against Pentyrch in the semi final. Pentyrch however couldn't fit the game in, despite Phil making every effort to accommodate them. This meant we had a bye to the final.
We are now in the final on Glamorgan Wanderers ground against Penarth, who beat Caerau Ely 18-10 in the other semi final. Date to be confirmed.
