Milkmen Matchday Report & Photo's.
Llanharan Milkmen 38-38 Pontyclun.
The Milkmen and The Badgers played out an entertaining 38-38 draw in an excellent, evenly matched contest. Conditions were close to perfect for rugby, with only the occasional spell of rain throughout the afternoon.
Llanharan started the game strongly and played some excellent rugby in the opening 40 minutes, showing good intensity, purpose and attacking intent to take a deserved 24-7 lead into half-time.
The second half was a different story, a lack of discipline and a failure to maintain the standards and positive rugby shown in the first half allowed the home side back into the game. Pontyclun took full advantage, building momentum and putting Llanharan under increasing pressure before eventually bringing the scores level. Despite the disappointment of letting a strong position slip, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance.
Three players who have only recently turned 18, continue to show real promise, with Alfie Jones and
Jessie Barnes once again putting in excellent performances.
There was also a senior debut for Rhys Turner, who made a real impact when he came off the bench and showed that he is more than capable of stepping up to senior rugby.
There was also a special moment for Josh O'Neil, who crossed fo his first-ever try for the club. Llanharan's tries came from Ryliegh Jeffries, Richard Byers, Paul Winters, Dewi Hearne and Josh O`'Neil, along with a penalt try. Ajay Lewis added three conversions.
A frustrating second half ultimately cost Llanharan the win but the first-half performance and the continued emergence of some of the club's younger players provide plenty of encouragement going forward.
