Newport 59 Llanharan 17 (33-5)

We put together some decent phases of rugby at Rodney parade, and with more

sympathetic refereeing, could have made a closer score of it.

However, we were given a reminder of what we left behind in the Premiership

three years ago – pace and power allowing Newport to capitalise on every

breakdown to good effect, greatly assisted by a strong scrummage.

We were 33-5 down at half time, but can reflect with some satisfaction on

scoring three tries, Greg Jones, Gary Williams and Dorian Thomas touching

down, Gethin Worgan converting one.
