LLANHARAN RFC – STATEMENT RE: PLAYER INCENTIVES

Llanharan RFC have become aware of rumours circulating on social media which insinuate that our recent

success on the field, is at least partially due to baseless claims that we are offering players financial

incentives to play for the club.

Llanharan RFC categorically deny these allegations, and would like to publicly confirm our adherence to,

and support for the ‘Statement of Integrity and Declaration of Compliance’ issued by the Welsh Rugby

Union in July 2023.

In the interests of transparency, we would welcome an opportunity to engage with the WRU Investigative

Strategy Policy (published at the end of November 2023) to unequivocally demonstrate our compliance.

Our impressive form, excellent results, and cup & league honours post-COVID are wholly due to the

combination of the following factors:

• An exceptionally talented and committed coaching and management team, with strong links to the

club, who promote an exciting brand of rugby.

• Loyal and hardworking players, again with strong links to the club, several of whom have

progressed through our age-grade structure, and others who have returned having benefitted from

the opportunity to experience the game at different clubs and levels.

• A willing group of dedicated volunteers, who as members of the club, put in countless hours of

unpaid toil to see grassroots rugby thrive in our community.

• Top class facilities which are designed to host competitive high-level rugby matches and other large

sporting or social events.

Rumours like these have a negative effect on all elements of grassroots rugby and undermine the spirit in

which the game is played at community level in Wales.

As a club, we pride ourselves on openness and inclusivity, and would invite anyone with a passion for

community rugby to join us at Llanharan RFC, whether that is a player (at all levels); coach; volunteer;

committee member; member; supporter or sponsor.
