Llanharan Youth put up a gutsy display against a much bigger Pontyclun side, evetually going down 32-15 at home. Llanharan played with a very strong wind behind them in the first half. It was Pontyclun who opened the scoring with a penalty but Llanharan hit back with a close range try from Lloyd Gregory which went unconverted. Pontyclun came back with a try after a line out near Llanharan's line. After a change of kicker Lloyd Gregory kept Llanharan in the hunt with a short range penalty. The away side then increased their lead with another try after a clever cross kick to make the score 19-8 to Pontyclun at half time. At the start of the second half Llanharan were now playing up the slope and against the wind. However they scored first with a try from close range after good passing sent Chris Osborne crashing over. Lloyd Gregory converted making the score 19-15 to Pontyclun. The size and powe
r of the Pontyclun side started to tell on the smaller Llanharan team and allowed Pontyclun to score a furher converted try and kick two penalties. Final score Llanharan 15 Pontyclun 32. The game was a good advert for youth rugby with both sides playing positive rugby. For Llanharan Lloyd Gregory was the pick of the pack, while Leon Burton showed some nice touches behind.
