Penallta 2008/9

SWALEC ONE EAST 2008/09

Sept 27 Llanharan 28 Penallta 0 (HT14-0)

Unavailability caused Dennis John to make several changes in his line up against new boys Penallta and the revamped team showed the strength in depth in our squad We dominated proceedings, a bonus point win taking us to joint top in Swalec One East.

To no small extent that superiority was down to the scrum, the front row of Adrian Ford, Nathan Huish and Nick Kibble regularly shunting Dale Powell’s eight backwards, to the delight of forwards coach Colin Malone.

It allowed our number eight Justin Jones to make early forays into opposition territory, while scrum half Gareth Spain was able to set his backs in motion on the front foot.

But frustratingly Gareth Edwards’ men were unable to translate all our pressure into points, not the least of the reasons being good defence by Penallta.
