RUMNEY 5 LLANHARAN 43
After two defeats, Llanharan got back to winning ways in impressive manner with a seven try drubbing of Rumney.
Our recent performances had been undermined by selection problems in the front five. First came the loss of second rows James O’Connor and Nick Eaves to the premiership, to be followed by injuries to line out ace Lee Davies and skipper Gareth Edwards.
Edwards would be out of the game for twelve weeks with his broken arm, but Davies returned to action in this Riverside Park encounter.
And he was joined in the boiler house by new signing Gareth Casey from Western Counties North club, Widden Old Boys.
The nineteen stone former England under 16 and 18 player made an instant impact using his bulk and power to force himself over the line from Davies’s line out possession for Llanharan‘s first try at the end of the opening quarter
Llanharan tries: Arwel Davies 2, Gareth Casey, Elliott Frewen, Lloyd Thomas, Craig Beasant, Sam Studley.
Con 4 – Gethin Worgan.
Rumney try: Tom Daly.
Team: Arwel Davies, Gary Williams, James Harris, Lloyd Thomas, Elliott Frewen (Carl Jenkins 63), Gethin Worgan, Craig Burton, Adrian Ford, Nathan Huish (Leighton Davies 53), Ed Rees (Nick Kibble 68), Gareth Casey, Lee Davies, Justin Jones, Craig Beasant (Aled Llewellyn 56), Jon Myatt (Sam Studley 56).
